  • Community Cafe

    Published 10/01/23

    Grand opening Community Café Thursday
    12th January 3:45pm

We have been very lucky to secure funding through the lottery community fund to open a community café.  We hope the café will be a place that can bring the community and families of Folville together.  We will have an information corner and notices which will provide information on services and support available. We will work with local food banks, and can support any needy families in making referrals.  We will invite other service providers along to offer information on the services and support they can provide.
The community side of the café will be a place for face to face social interaction, book club, learning new skills, sewing, knitting and arts and crafts.
We will also use the café to offer a uniform swap shop, recycling uniform.  We will have IPads available for use and offer some online training and safety sessions.  For any local trades people, we will have a specific notice board where you can leave your business card or small advertisement.
Alongside all of this we will provide hot and cold food cooked and prepared on site,  all the sales of food and drinks will be to cover costs and the café will be a non-profit-making project.  With the funding secured this will help us run the café for the first year, but thereafter we will need to make sure that the café is self-funding.
The grand opening will be Thursday 12th January 3:45pm – we will have hot food available, but this will be limited until we know the number of visitors we receive, so please bear with us, if we don’t quite have enough on the opening day. Please come along and join us.
The café will have a capacity restriction of 50 adults and children at any one time.

    All visitors will be welcomed.
    Thank you

  • Household Support Fund

    Published 23/06/22

The household support fund is open for referrals from 16 May to 4 September 2022. The grant is funded by the government to support people most in need of help with rising living costs. Schools will act as lead referrers.

    How can families get help?

Families cannot apply to the fund directly. Funds are limited and the government has changed how councils are required to target them.

Families needing support from this fund will need to be referred by a professional.

Referrals are able to be submitted from the following Leicester City Council teams:

    • social workers
    • neighbourhood housing officers
    • housing related support workers
    • income management officers
    • city schools (see below for access)

We are asking schools to support us by working with those families who are struggling and have been affected by rising living costs.  The scheme is open for schools from Monday 16 May and will close 4 September 2022.  This will give you time to work with your families.

  • Stay Safe Online

    Published 30/04/20

    Dear All

During Folvilles closure due to the pandemic your children will probably be using technology a lot more. I would like to remind you that apps such as Tik Tok, Snapchat, Facebook, Whats app and Instagram all need to monitored regularly to ensure that you know who your child/children are communicating with. Games such as Roblox, Fortnite and minecraft also need monitoring as not all users are children.

You can find step by step guides on how to make accounts private on the school website.

The RAF sponsored a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Day and we had lots of exciting experiences building rockets, watching explosions and learning about life in space. We spent all day with Colin, a young  pilot,  who told us all about life in the RAF. Everyone had a great time and hopefully we have inspired some future scientists and engineers.

    Iron Man Construction Afternoon

On Wednesday 1st May, Year 4 pupils and their parents/ careers constructed some almighty and very impressive Iron Men which Year 4 have been reading as their class book.  Prior to the afternoon children have created and elaborately performed their own Iron Man poems using the poet  Michael Rosen as in inspiration for their performance poetry. The designs involved plenty of cardboard boxes, foil and many other materials to help construct and decorate the Iron Man. As part of their design they used their knowledge of the Iron Man so many of the Iron men only had one ear as this was lost following a terrible fall early in the story. Well done and thank you to all the parents that were involved. We even managed to fill the stage in the hall with Iron Men, quite a sight to behold!
