Illness

Advice on illness and when to keep your child off from school.

This is an advisory, however if you are concerned about your child being unwell, you should contact 119 immediately for medical advice.

If your child is displaying signs of a runny/blocked/sniffle nose, or a sore throat (unless they have any of the main symptoms listed below) we are advising you to bring your child to school.

If your child is unwell, but they do not have any of the Covid symptoms, we would ask you to use your own judgement if they are well enough to attend school.

Whilst we are vigilant and are asking parents to help prevent any outbreak of Covid in school, it is important that children attend school where they can.

The Main symptoms from the NHS Website

The main symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms.
