Curriculum Aims

By the end of their journey at Folville Junior School, every child will be equipped with the knowledge, character and confidence to take their next steps in education and in life - curious, articulate, responsible and proud of who they are and where they come from.

At Folville Junior School, our curriculum is designed to give every child the best possible start in life. It reflects the rich diversity of our community and supports pupils to understand who they are, where they live and the wider world they are part of. We bring learning to life through meaningful experiences such as trips, visitors, artefacts, drama and community partnerships. These opportunities help children to see, feel and experience their learning, making it memorable and exciting.

Our curriculum follows the National Curriculum and is carefully sequenced into clear, progressive steps in every subject. Knowledge, skills and vocabulary build over time so that children can make links, deepen their understanding and grow as confident learners. Oracy and vocabulary are at the heart of our approach. We support children to “talk like a scientist”, “talk like a historian” and more through structured opportunities that develop confidence and subject-specific language.

Rooted in our values, our curriculum ensures that Folville is “a place where every child has a champion.” We hold high expectations for all, provide inclusive opportunities and nurture each child’s strengths so they can achieve, contribute and thrive.

We are currently refining our curriculum and will provide an up to date curriculum overview at the end of this review period. If you need further information please contact the school office.
