Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is additional government funding given to schools to support children’s learning, development, and wellbeing. Its purpose is to help close the attainment gap between pupils who may face financial disadvantage and their peers.
Your child may be eligible for this support if you are registered for free school meals and receive certain benefits. It is important to note that this is different from Universal Free School Meals, which only apply to children in Reception to Year 2. When children join Folville in Year 3, they will only receive a free meal if your family meets the eligibility criteria.
At Folville, our use of Pupil Premium aligns closely with our ethos of being a safe and nurturing community delivering excellence, and with our strategic commitment to remove barriers to learning for every child. We use this funding to provide targeted support, high-quality teaching, and wider opportunities so that all pupils can participate fully in school life and achieve their potential.
This includes academic support, pastoral care through our Family Support and ELSA teams, access to enrichment experiences, and additional help for attendance and wellbeing. Our priority is to ensure that every child — regardless of background — is known, valued, and championed, and has the same chance to succeed.
Our strategy is focused on improving outcomes, promoting inclusion, and building confidence and independence. By addressing inequalities early and effectively, we aim to give every pupil the strongest foundations for future learning and life.
Pupil Premium funding is used for three main purposes:
To improve the quality of teaching and learning, through for example, CPD of teachers.
Provide targeted academic support, such as structured interventions and small group tutoring.
Support wider strategies, including improving attendance, behaviour and well-being.
