Governors
Welcome to our Governor’s Section
At Folville Junior School, our Governing Body plays a vital role in guiding the school’s strategic direction and ensuring we deliver on our vision of a safe and nurturing community delivering excellence.
Our governors bring a wealth of experience from education, local business, and community leadership. This blend of skills ensures that decisions are strategic, transparent, and firmly rooted in both professional expertise and local understanding.
The Governing Body of a maintained school has three core statutory functions:
Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction.
Holding senior leaders to account for the educational performance of pupils and the management of staff.
Overseeing the school’s financial performance to ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively for the benefit of all pupils.
In addition, governors at Folville play an active role in safeguarding, inclusion, curriculum oversight, and staff well-being. They visit the school regularly, engage with pupils and staff, and provide both support and challenge to school leaders.
Our Governing Body includes leaders from local businesses, experienced former teachers, and long-standing community representatives who have supported Folville and its families for many years. Our Chair of Governors is a local church leader, offering wisdom, stability, and strong community connections that reflect our ethos of care, integrity, and inclusion.
We are also proud to have Raj Gill Harrison among our governors — a respected local leader recognised nationally for her outstanding service to the community and her advocacy for equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Together, our governors work closely with school leaders to uphold high standards, ensure accountability, and champion the success, safety, and well-being of every child at Folville.
