Ofsted

We are so proud that our recent Ofsted inspection (December 2024) recognised Folville Junior School as a friendly, welcoming, and safe place where pupils thrive. Inspectors highlighted our high expectations, noting how pupils work hard, achieve well across the curriculum, and are confident, enthusiastic learners who talk proudly about their work. They found that our children are well prepared for the next stage of their education, reflecting the strength of our teaching and our culture of care.

Inspectors described relationships between staff and pupils as respectful and positive, with children showing kindness, responsibility, and care for one another. Behaviour was praised as calm and considerate, and pupils told inspectors they always have trusted adults they can speak to.

We are especially pleased that our ambitious curriculum and strong teaching of reading were celebrated. By Year 6, most pupils are fluent readers who love books and learning — something we are deeply proud of, as reading sits at the heart of our school. Inspectors also recognised our broad personal development offer, including music, sport, and performances that help pupils build confidence, creativity, and character.

Staff were commended for their dedication and professionalism, with inspectors noting that they feel supported and proud to work at Folville. Our governing body and safeguarding arrangements were also praised as strong and effective.

We're proud to say that this report reflects our ethos in action — a safe and nurturing community delivering excellence, where every child is known, valued, and championed so they can achieve their very best.
